Connectivity is a human right. Privacy is its guardian. At Koki’o, privacy isn’t a feature or a compliance checkbox. It’s the architecture. We shift power from providers to consumers by moving trust out of providers and operators into open code and your own device, which you can verify.

With the ethos of open source, verifiable source of truth and consumer data security practices, Koki’o provides a friendly & practical eSIM store for the masses with privacy as the default — never traded for profit.

Telco consumer data remains at risk even with the freedom of connectivity that eSIMs were meant to provide.

We reject legacy approaches: open source, a verifiable source of truth, data minimisation, and global connectivity without collecting any personal information.

No amount of policy-level scrutiny protects you from trusting the database. And databases fail routinely. When one fails, you are rarely told — sometimes for years, sometimes never.

The stolen records then do their work: scams composed from your real name, your real carrier, your real movements. The breach is not the crime. It is the reconnaissance.

As the failure moves deeper into the chain of services a consumer uses away from the brand you chose and into the vendors you never heard of, it becomes harder and harder to detect, and impossible to remedy.

This should sound familiar. It is a trusting-trust attack on your identity, running at industrial scale, entirely legally.

IPrivacy is Personal, Political and Programmable

Privacy is public infrastructure. It’s a right to selective presence — not total invisibility. You can prove you paid without revealing who you are; you can connect without being catalogued.

The current telecom system operates on a simple assumption: to connect, you must be known. The stated reasons are reasonable: fraud prevention, lawful access, anti-spam.

The identity collection is bolted on, by regulation, by habit, and by business models that profit from knowing you.

Koki’o encodes the right to privacy into a smart wallet bound to your device’s biometrics via secure enclave. Thus, verifiable ownership — no passwords, no middlemen, no data brokers.

From wallet to eSIM to data purchase, every interaction lives on a decentralised, distributed ledger — and under your control. We are removing unnecessary intermediaries, eventually onboarding eSIM providers directly on-chain to enable trustless, peer-to-peer provisioning. Open source smart contract suite, auditable, and verifiable by anyone.

The objection

The obvious response to all of the above is: why should we trust you instead? You should not. Every provider in the chain above also once promised to protect you. Trust in institutions is precisely the mechanism that failed.

So we did not build a system that asks for your trust. We built one that does not require it.

Koki’o collects nothing. There is no name, no email, no KYC, nothing that accumulates a profile of you. Not “minimal data,” but no signup at all.

Your account is a smart contract wallet bound to your device’s biometrics; your key never leaves the secure hardware of your own phone. There is no password to phish and no credential to leak, because none exists.

You pay however you already pay: credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or your go-to crypto wallet, while the contract does its work unseen, and you may take full self-custody of it whenever you choose. Purchases are on a decentralised, distributed ledger without being personal: provable, not identifying.

Selective transparency. Anonymity here is not absence; it is presence without intrusion. Your purchase exists on the ledger for anyone to verify. Your name exists nowhere, because we never asked for it.

If we ever began collecting names, it would be visible in the code. We arranged to be caught. A promise depends on the people who made it; an architecture keeps working even on its makers’ worst day. That is the only kind of guarantee we consider worth publishing.

What this makes you

The industry’s term for you is “data subject.” The term is honest about the relationship: a subject is someone things are done to.

We hold that you are a sovereign actor. You choose what to disclose, when to reveal, and how to pay, rather than remaining the property of whichever provider last photographed your passport.
